I want to talk to you about manifestation - cue the eye rolls. Whether you believe it or not, you have full control over your life through the power of thought, through the power of your mind.
So how does it work?
My best friend recently asked me about manifestation. More specifically, she asked me how to manifest. I was a little taken back at first. How do you manifest? Manifestation has always felt so palpable to me, I'd never thought of it as something to be learnt. My friend hesitantly compared it to prayer - she got it.
You don't have to be religious, or even spiritual, to manifest your dreams. You don't have to pray to a higher power. You don't have to acknowledge the Universe or Spirit. Really, you don't have to do anything. It's like magic. What you set your mind to will become your reality (whether you think negatively or positively is up to you). Think of a vision board - you intentionally place photos and words in a collage that represent what you want to see happen in your life. I don't know about you, but most people I see putting these boards together typically accomplish their goals. The same goes for writing down your intentions, repeating mantras, or saying prayers. People achieve their greatest desires by thinking about what they want and, more importantly, believing in themselves.
I'm not saying that a million dollars will fall into your lap if you simply think about money, it's going to take a little more work than that. We've all heard the phrase "think it, dream it, do it." I'm not sure where the phrase came from, but I know that it couldn't be more true. Here's an example from my own life: my husband and I are converting a van to live in and travel around North America. For years, Kyle and I would talk about how cool it would be to have an RV or a camper to travel in full-time. We daydreamed about it constantly, but we didn't make any effort to make it happen. It never seemed tangible to us until we shifted our mindset. Once we decided that anything is possible, we were able to talk more seriously about how we can make this work.
It's that simple. Try it, think about what you want most in your life. Picture it, feel it, smell it. Close your eyes. Envision exactly what you want your life to look like. How do you feel? Are you happy? Proud? What are you doing? Who are you with? Think about it until it feels real. Until you can feel it in your body. Write it down. Say it out loud. Plan it out, every last detail. Daydream about it. Think about it as you lay in bed at night. Wake up thinking about it. Let these thoughts consume you. I promise, it might not look exactly as you imagine and it might take longer than you hope, but it will happen and it will be perfect.
Are you still with me? Let's try another example. When I was young, I fell into a depression. For many years, I believed that I was incapable of being happy. Not that I was always sulking or never smiled, but deep down, I felt a lot of pain. The more I told myself that I wasn't enough, that I'd never be happy, that I didn't deserve to feel joy, the worse my depression would get. This mindset, I believe, led me to a series of trauma, toxic relationships, and lots of anxiety. With the help of therapy and a huge mindset shift, I was able to turn my life around. You can do the same.
I'm not going to talk about how manifestation can cure disease, as I don't have any personal experience with this, but there are so many examples out there. I'm confident you can find a ton of stories if you dig through the web. I will tell you that it is absolutely possible.
So, moral of the story? Be mindful of your thoughts. Are you telling yourself that you'll never be able to accomplish that goal? Or are you going to embody your wildest dreams? You decide what your future holds. You have control over your life. What are you going to manifest?
